X MARKS THE PEDWALK - Drawback

It’s always such a high when a new XMTP album is released, and with Drawback it’s no less.  Sevren Ni-Arb and Raive Yarx always produce some of the purist sounds in this big mass of electronic music.  With Drawback there is no exception to that pure electronic sound.  Experimenting with different electronic elements has always played an important role in creating their highly impressive masterwork, in this case called Drawback.  XMTP have once again created some of the most addictive intelligent electronic dance music, as Meshwork, the sound is techno influenced, very atmospheric, and some of the best obscure melodies.  Another thing that plays an important part in their music is the vocals, something that I have always found to be attracting, not only Sevren Ni-Arb, but also Estefania. I find it interesting on how they are able to make the melody on vocals alone and the use of unique effects. Time Tunnel/phase one starts things off a very appropriate introduction to the album.  It contains an ambient feel to it and has a nice subtle beat.  Maximum Pace gets the blood flowing, one of those Electro dance tracks they do oh so well; should get anyone moving on the dancefloor.  Another track that got my attention is W.I.T.I.A.K. (What I Taste Is A Kiss), a mellow track, that although it has that new XMTP feel to it at 1st, it kind of makes me think, if that was X-Marks, what an original arrangement, particularly with Estefania’s vocals. Drawback is another excellent song with that’s appealing as any of the songs.  We can also find 3 songs that have a mix provided for each, among the 3 is the already mentioned Time Tunnel, the rmx called phase two, showing a different side to the song, as well as both is the other 2 songs rmxed.  Once thing that needs to be mentioned is that we are treated with a mix of early to present XMTP songs (Cenotaph thru Facer) at the end of the disk, rightly titled MIX Marks The Pedwalk, this shows us the musical evolution that XMTP has gone through.  Sevren Ni-Arb has definitely become a very influential and one of the busiest musicians in the scene.  This release is as awe-inspiring as anything X-Marks The Pedwalk has done.  As always, it has the highly recommended seal!!!
