- Got Moose?
Songs: 16 Time: 71:16
Chase at Re-Constriction has once again put
together another compilation featuring the majority of the bands on his label
(as well as a surprise.) Much like last years 10th Anniversary
CD, Got Moose? is about ½ previously released material and ½ soon
to be released tracks. Unlike last year’s release, Got Moose? is comprised of
only one track per band, but when your dealing with 15 bands, that can’t be
avoided. Diatribe’s amazing Ultracide (from the CD-5 of the same
name) gets things rolling with fierce beat programming, intense guitars, and
Marc’s trademark vocal delivery. A new Killing Floor track,
Twelve.Ten.Forty-Eight, finds the band moving into harsher territory where
brutal guitar work meets aggressive drum pattern and shouted vocals. Off of the
Cyberpunk Fiction CD we have Collide’s rendition of Son
of a Preacher Man (raw mix.) No one can touch Karin’s smooth vocals and
Statik’s amazing programming ability. Put these two together, and your bound to
get great results every time. A new signing to Re-Con, Hexedene presents
Turn. Hexedene is a new project from J Sharp (New Mind, Bio-Tek,
Hyperdex-1-Sect) that features melodic female vocals laid over a medley
of techno and coldwave. Quite a bizarre mixture that, oddly enough, plays off
very well. Another female fronted project, Waiting For God, released
their US debut last year on Re-Con and they’re already back with new material.
Positive I.D., off of their soon to be released Desiramine
CD, combines more subdued guitars with near experimental programming and
energetic, cyber beats. Purr Machine and Hotbox are a pair of
bands in which I was previously unfamiliar with. Circumstance, by Purr
Machine, is a simplistic track with nasally delivered vocals and limited
programming. Hotbox’s Wake sports gothic styled female vocals and
twisted sequences, both combining to create a very weird, yet slightly addicting
track. The last goodie on this CD is SMP’s unreleased Friday the 13th
track. Dark hip-hop electro at its finest. Hopefully these guys will get some
new material ready sometime in the near future. Other bands included on this
disc are Christ Analogue, Iron Lung Corporation, Vampire
Rodents, 16 Volt, and Society Burning. Got Moose? Is a fine
way to acquaint yourself with most of the Re-Con roster and also get a taste of
what’s to come.
