Virtual Victim is a fairly new, one-man project hailing from Bielefeld, Germany. The Opfer MCD combines much of the work that Chris has done to date, along with a few remixes. It’s quite easy to see why some of his tracks have already appeared on compilations and have begun to receive some airplay on several online radio stations. The music throughout the CD combines harsh rhythms and harsh vocals together with lighter, more melodic synth elements, much in the same style as Decoded Feedback. Clinical White Room features some stunning and addictive synth lines, placed against rigid, staticy beats and Chris’ distorted vocals. Away (Sonsed mix) is a slower piece, but the beats are equally as rough as the faster pieces and the synths are equally as crisp and whimsical. Feel the Devil (remix) takes a bit of a turn away from the style of the previous pieces. The vocals are more natural and the synths actually have a creepy, evil carnival sound. On Torture the sound once again returns to the amalgamation of harsh beats, playful synths, and gruff vocals. While the musical nature of Virtual Victim isn’t overly original, the production and composition elements are high caliber. It’s seems as if Chris is really onto something here. I doubt it will be long before he finds himself in signed to one of the Euro, electro labels.
