ORANGE SECTOR
- Scars of Love
Songs: 11 Time: 47:18
After their rather disappointing release on
Synthetic Symphony, Orange Sector find themselves back on Zoth Ommog with
a brand new full length, Scars of Love. This CD features a few
new tracks alongside of some of their earlier work, all of which have been
remixed. Scars of Love (Distortion Mix) is a slower EBM piece with some
mild orchestrated electro sequences and fuzzy vocals. Following the same
pattern as the previous track, Feel Me (Dance Mix) is also a slower dance
piece, but this time the vocals are more up-front and raw and the sequences are
more elaborate. Off of Flashback, the Dance Mix of Here
We Are mixes together the new, more synth-pop orientated sound of Orange
Sector with their body music roots. Added elements to this mix include some
placid piano chords and a slowed down beat. The Radio Version of Scars
of Love is a bit more friendly than the Distortion Mix in that the vocals are
much more crisp. Wasted Time (Extended Mix) is built upon a solid dance
beat, wet sequence patterns, and manipulated vocals mixed with untreated vocals.
The final two tracks, Kalt Wie Stahl (W. W. B-Mix) and Für Immer (F.
I. S-Mix) were both put through the ringer by Sevren Ni-Arb of X Marks
the Pedwalk fame. Kalt Wie Stahl is a vocal driven track with a simplistic
beat and repetitive sequences. I found that this mix seemed to be rather bland
and a bit below my expectations. Für Immer is a much better example of how
Sevren can mix. The beats are quick, the sequences are staticy and raw, and the
vocals, while remaining untreated, are still very aggressive. I enjoyed this CD
much more than Orange Sector’s Love It disc and I hope to see them
moving more towards the direction of these mixes.
