Micronaut is the new side-project of Chris Randall (aka Sister Machine Gun.)  Much unlike SMG, the music of Micronaut is soft, gentle, and easy in nature.  Brain Forest is an atmospheric instrumental in which aquatic sounds drift in and out, over top of a solid droning sequence.  Brain Forest blends into Acidosis, a piece with a mild rhythm, wet sequences, and a light, backing synth drone.  Send in the Drones Pt. 1 is much more upbeat than the previous two pieces.  Although there is still no beat present, the sequences are a bit more aggressive.  Like the other two pieces, this one also contains a bleak, backing sequences that rarely fluctuates.  Send in the Drones Pt. 2 is a continuation of the first part, but one this one a solid beat is added, transforming the piece from a light soundscape into a more techno geared dance track.  Ribofunk borrows a bit too much from Meat Beat Manifesto for my tastes.  This piece contains samples pertaining to drugs, as well funky sequences.  12 Minutes slowly builds up into a trippy piece with a multitude of beat variations and (you guessed it) a droning background sequence.  Sweeper is a faster-paced track with funky sequences, garbled vocals samples, and tripped-out beats.  Randall joins forces with Alien Faktor founder Tom Muschitz for the final track, Black Hole.  This mellow piece has a very airy feeling about it.  While Micronaut is nothing stupendous, it does prove that Randall does have other musical interests and it gives him an outlet for that attraction to the lighter side of electronic music.
