MESH
- You Didn't Want Me
Songs: 4 Time: 19:31
Taken from their latest full length (In
This Place Forever,) the You Didn’t Want Me single
contains 2 mixes of the title track, and one mix each of Fragile and
In the Light of Day. The Radio Mix of You Didn’t Want Me
contains several catchy electronic hooks along with the sublime, synth-pop
styled vocals. Even though Mesh could be considered a synth-pop act,
their use of electronics is slightly harder than most acts and their percussion
is more varied. This is especially noticeable on In the Light of Day, a track
where the layers of sequences are piled high, the beats are constantly changing,
and there’s even a bit of acoustic guitar work added into the mix. The US
Mix of Fragile is the highlight of this CD-5. Much more akin to harsh
electro, Fragile sports a slight breakbeat, heavy handed vocals, and well mixed
guitars over top of the more lush / atmospheric sequences. Hints of techno ebb
and hints of aggro electro flow from this piece. The album version of You
Didn’t Want Me is a stripped down version which relies on the vocals to carry it
through. As a whole, this single really shows all sides of Mesh’s musical
abilities and really displays their creative talent.
