Melotron is a new band that is in the
same vain as And One, meaning that while their music is straight-edged
electro, the vocals are softer and more synth-pop orientated. On this, their
first single from their album (Möderwerk), Melotron shine with
sharp sequences, crisp vocals and compelling beats. Dein Meister is a
straightforward club track that assaults both the body and the senses with
pounding beats, strong sequencing, and distinct vocals. Of the 4 mixes
presented on this MCD, the Funker Vogt one stands out as the most
powerful one. In typical Funker fashion, Gerritt and company rely on the steady
beat to carry the mix out. The Ravenous Remix is powerful is a different
sense, in that this is a much less agitated version that is smooth from
beginning to end. The other pair of mixes are similar to the album version, one
being a bit longer (Extended) and one being a tad shorter (Radio
Version.) 2 Young To Die is a bonus, exclusive track and one of the
few in which some of the vocals are actually sung in English. Unfortunately it
is only the chorus that is English and the remainder of the track is sung in
German. 2 Young To Die is a superb track nonetheless and I'm surprised that it
wasn't added onto their full length. Fans of And One take note, Melotron may be
just what you're looking for if you're beginning to grow weary of the new,
lighter direction And One is taking.
