MAGENTA
- One Mind
Songs: 4 Time: 15:03
Traveling over to the US with Apoptygma
Berzerk back in Jan of 1998, Magenta filmed their video for One
Mind in New York City. It wasn't too long afterwards that the video was
showcased on MTV's 120 Minutes, and for good reason. The song is fantastic!
One Mind is the first single off of Magenta's full-length debut, Periode.
With vocals that span a wide range and guitar work that is intricate yet not
forceful, Magenta present a sound that revitalizes darkwave and gives it new
hope. As far as the vocals go, I can't help but make a slight comparison to
Book of Love, but that does not detract from their overall sound. Blame
is a bonus track that places the guitars more towards the forefront without
sacrificing or drowning out the vocals. Another b-side track, Blue Psycho,
is reworked and released as the Polar Mix. This is a more electronically
based track with denser vocals, harder guitars, and a rock solid beat. One Mind
is a nice companion to Magenta's full length and really should not be
overlooked, especially if you're a fan of the darker, female fronted style of
music.
