The latest offering from the man behind the steel walls of Zoth Ommog is Lights of Euphoria's Voices.  Torben Schmidt's pet project had gone through several changes since its inception back in the early 90's.  On the first CD Torben utilized the vocal talents of several of his label's bands.  Between that time and the present, the Lights of Euphoria line up became stable, with the majority of the vocals being sung by Godheads vocalist Jim Machon.  With Voices, Torben takes yet another approach by incorporating several other musicians.  The two standout tracks, In Love With the Night and Mindtraveler feature Volker Lutz (Evils Toy) and Gerritt Thomas (Funker Vogt) respectively.  Each of these two tracks has the slight flavor of the contributors own projects, which makes them more diverse and better than average.  Mindtraveler sports the typical 'thump-thump-thump' Funker Vogt beat styling and In Love With the Night features some of the spacey and quirky synth lines found in most modern Evils Toy tracks.  Sunday Drive is another favorite.  This piece has a slow Nitzer Ebbish feel to it and is a great dance tune!  Another slower paced track, Nothing To Save, is built upon moderate beats, wafting synths, and Machon's raw vocals.  Subjection 2000, which was originally sung by Leæther Strip's Claus Larsen, is an updated version of the original that still contains the dense sequences and gruff vocals.  There are two remixes tacked on the end of the CD, one reworked by Funker Vogt and the other remixed by Dark Illuminaiton.  The Funker Vogt remix of In Love With the Night combines the Evil Toy and Lights of Euphoria elements of the original and adds in the standard Funker Vogt rhythm programming elements.  Finally, The Dark Illumination remix of Monument of Destruction is constructed of a simple, effective beat, choppy vocals, and clean, airy synth patterns.  While I never found any Lights of Euphoria CDs perfect from beginning to end, Voices does a good job at keeping my interest and several of the pieces do a great job at filling the dance floor.
