Lapse’s
self titled mini tape is an audio excursion into the depths of bass driven,
rhythmic compositions. Withhold features a rumbling rhythm line, sparse
beats, atmospheric sequences, and untreated, naturally delivered vocals. On
Pulse, the rhythm line is cavernous, echoing and reverberating throughout
the entire piece. Again, the sequences are atmospheric and the percussion in
left at a minimum. Finally, Empyrean finishes off the tape with an
experimental style which incorporates pulsating sequences (riddled with peculiar
noises,) a vibrating rhythm line, and simple beats. As a whole, I believe Lapse
is on to something, but I’d need more than 3 tracks to really say whether or not
it would be a style that I’d truly enjoy.
