Next to Collide, La Floa Maldita
is one of the few electronically based acts that feature soothing female vocals.
Next to kARIN, Rhea is the most beautiful female singer in this scene. Her
partner and music composer, Guido LeFric is no stranger to the scene. Having
worked with everyone from Second Voice to Haujobb to Oomph!,
Guido has quickly made a name for himself in the electro / industrial scene in
both Europe and abroad. Destination Heaven brings La Floa
Maldita's melodic dance sound to the shores of the United States. A compilation
of sorts, this CD pulls the finest La Floa Maldita tracks from several of their
full lengths and Mini CDs and combines them with the added bonus of a few
unreleased versions and rare versions. The music behind Sorcière is
rather accessible with the addition of a strong dance orientated beat to the
catchy sequences. Señor Kramm (of Das Ich) remixes this same track,
twisting it into a harder edged electro piece with subtle guitar elements and a
more rigid rhythm line. A mild, trippy beat is joined by Rhea's airy vocals and
Guido's sweeping synths and dense rhythm on Your Indecision. Much like
the Das Ich remix of Sorcière, this piece also contains small snippets of
electric guitar, but not near enough to drive it into the coldwave genre. L'Oasis
is one of La Floa Maldita's more popular tracks. On this piece Rhea's vocals
are the most prominent element. Beneath them lies a pulsating rhythm, quirky,
synth-pop sequences, and another tripped-out beat. Haujobb remixes this track
adds manages to breathe even more life into it, raising it to another level of
electronic brilliance. Imagination, with its catchy sequences and light
rhythm, shows La Floa Maldita again moving towards a more synth-pop style.
Adding a dash of darkwave to the mix, L'enfer Confortable juxtaposes
dreamy piano sequences against an aquatic beat. Moving into the IDM realm,
The Strongest Man is a dreamy electro dance track with wet sequence sounds,
minimal electric guitar riffs, heavenly vocals, and raw beats. Destination
Heaven is a well put together CD that brings together only a portion of La Floa
Maldita's majestic compositions. Let's hope that this CD does well for itself
so we can see future domestic releases by this wondrous duo.
