KEVORKIAN DEATH CYCLE - Collection For Injection [reissue]
Songs: 12  Time:  55:09
Aside from their appearance on the RAS DVA 4CD compilation There Is No Time, Collection For Injection was the CD that started it all for Kevorkian Death Cycle.  More ominous in nature than their recent material, KDC honed their electronic skills on this highly sought after album.  Whereas their newer sound is more open-ended (meaning that it's hard to determine which direction they'll go next) KDC gripped firmly to the darker sounds on Collection For Injection.  Beginning with a short intro, entitled Water, this CD moves forward with the dance floor friendly Man Made, a track that sports dense synth work, emotionally delivered vocals, and a hearty beat.  Next up is Veal, possibly the band's most recognizable track. Veal rumbles along with the aid of a thick rhythm, anger filled vocals, and scraping synths.  Starting off with an FLA (ala Resist) styled beat, Faithless builds and builds with the addition of semi-distorted vocals, a brisk rhythm, and minimal, yet effective synth work.  Sleeping Age epitomizes the meaning of 'industrial' in the 1990's.  This machine driven piece implements all of the factors (samples-a-plenty, harsh vocals, furious beats, well-placed breaks, and a snarling rhythm) that make it the perfect definition for 'industrial.'  Spring Heel Jack is a slower piece in which the synths overpower the vocals a bit too much for my taste.  Picking it back up, Kill For Christ is a track driven by its intense beats, raging vocals, and throttling guitar work.  Finishing off the CD is Biophobe, a harsh instrumental displaying KDC's thoughts on assisted suicide (via samples) and also showing exactly where they came up with the name of their band.  KDC has released two albums since 1996's Collection For Injection, but for many (including myself) this CD remains as their best work to date.
