Originally, In Strict Confidence was to release a new full length, Exile Paradise, in January ’06, but alas that did not come to fruition. Instead we are treated with this 10 track MCD entitled Where the Sun and Moon Unite. There are 3 original tracks along with 7 remixes by the likes of Blutengel, Blind Faith & the Envy, and Pattenbrigade Wolff (Dust of Basement’s side-project.) Whereas the original version of Paradise Regained has crisp synths, a tumultuous beat, and subtle vocals the Pattenbrigade Wolff remix is much slower with the beat pushed into the far background and the vocals coming across equally as distant. The clubmix of Promised Land had my head nodding along right away. The joining together of the soothing female vocals and the pumping beat is a proven combo for some dance floor action. The Blutengel remix of the same track is quite disappointing. Being that I’m a huge fan of all that Christain is involved with, I was taken back at the deconstruction of the track. This remix doesn’t allow the track to flow as naturally as the club or extended mix, but rather allows it to clop along with no real high points. Diamond is the most original track on this MCD. Dennis and company added in some calming, acoustic guitar on this somewhat ethereal piece. After hearing the ISC / Melotron single for The Sun Always Shines on TV as well as this MCD, I am looking very forward to the next ISC release.
