INERTIA
- Negative Prime
Songs: 13 Time: 54:19
One thing I can say about this disc is that
its somewhat disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it still is a good solid disc,
but just not what I expected after Inertia's strong debut
Programmed to Respond. The music on here is Inertia's staple brand of
hard electro-dance, tinged with techno and slight ambient dance, but I would
have thought it would be a bit more breakthrough. The best songs are
Auto-Erotica, Harlequin, and Regime. Each of these tunes is
brimming with hostile beats, thick analog sequences and both Reza Udhin's
cryptic vox and lyrics and Alexys B.'s softer female vox. Great for club play.
Another good aspect of this disc are several ambient techno pieces, the best 2
being Universe Rising and Ice Theory, which have a unique,
soothing, but still danceable feel to them. Contentment is a very dark
and almost early Delerium-sounding gothic ambient piece that adds even
more flavor. The rest of the songs, while each being good in their own unique
way, are just less impressive as I thought they'd be. Inertia still has their
own sound, however, which is more than I can say for many other groups.
