IMAGE TRANSMISSION - Filth
Songs: 11  Time:  51:19
Image Transmission is one of those bands who have been around for quite some time, but have yet to be rightly recognized for their compositions.  With their newest release, Filth, Image Transmission really don't tread any new ground, but instead they remain faithful to their own unique style of electro that they developed on HLC.  The nine tracks on Filth are book marked with a pair of shorter pieces, Enter Filth and Filth-Exit.  Both of these pieces are minimalistic, yet intriguing, as they set and end the mood of the album itself.  The later of the two is especially different, as it contains some lighter, string sounds.  In Sickness and in Health is both light and hard, in that the underlying rhythm and sequences are non-aggressive, but the vocals and beat are a bit rougher and more ominous.  Beginning with a cacophony of electronic string sounds and ending with a steadfast, thumping beat, Inside the Spirit is a dense dance piece with dark, cascading sequences and whispered vocals.  The Water is a crisp electro track with crashing beats and a pounding rhythm.  The vocals on this piece are more evil sounding than most of the other tracks on the CD.  Again, on The Saviour, Image Transmission combine both hard EBM sounds with lighter sequences to create a piece that doesn't fit nicely into any particular genre.  The backing sequences on Live-Wire have a smooth soundtrack feel to them, while the beats and vocals take on a more abrasive nature.  Natureolgy is the highlight of Filth. This track has an airy and addictive sequence running behind near break-beat styled rhythm.  Overall Natureolgy has a nice flow to it that makes it seem like it's moving along quicker than it actually does.  Filth, in my opinion, should get Image Transmission the recognition they deserve, but as previous IT albums, it will probably be overlooked by those not willing to take a chance.
