GRIFFIN'S FALL - A Medicine For Meloncholy
Songs: 10  Time: 43:18
The joined talents of members from In My Rosary, Derriere Le Miroir, and Printed At Bismark’s Death are combined to form Griffin’s Fall, an electro goth outfit who create dark dance music with industrial undertones.  Fancy Garden is a moody piece with moving vocals and a strong rhythm line.  As far as slower dance pieces go, this is one of the better ones.  Edging more towards pure electro, Calling Against the Storm utilizes a throbbing, raw electronic sequence as a backdrop for the half-spoken vocals and distant guitar riffs.  Ego is a quicker paced dance track with EBM styled beats and semi-nasally vocals.  Back From Syracus is another more electrofied piece.  With a fluctuating rhythm line and techno influenced beat programming, this track is one of the more diverse pieces on A Medicine For Melancholy.  Finally follows the same pattern as Syracus in that the music is upbeat, but the vocals on this particular track are more ominous.  Falling into the school of strict EBM, the percussion arrangement on Cute sounds as if it could have been lifted from an old Nitzer Ebb tune.  While the music on this track is a bit repetitive, the vocals add the variance it needs to carry it across without becoming stale.  Vampires of Beer (silly name) completes Griffin’s Fall’s work with the darkest sequences found on here, along with the strangest lyrics.  I’m not too sure if this is a one off type of project, but if they do release a follow-up album, I’ll be very curious to hear what it will sound like.
