GOOD COURAGE - Guilty on All Accounts
Songs: 13  Time: 65:17
Good Courage may be the first band ever to release a "best of’ compilation with only one original album under their belt.  Guilty on All Accounts is thier first full length Zoth Ommog CD that features the best tracks off of their debut CD, Old, Broken, and Destroyed as well as some remixed tracks taken from their New Fixed, and Remixed CD and their I’m Not There maxi single, all of which were released on Hard Records.  While the music behind Good Courage is hard and heavy, the vocals are a bit too reminiscent of Depeche Mode’s David Gahan.  The musical master behind the Good Courage sound are none other than Henrik Jensen and Jacob Neis, the same two who are responsible for the phenomenal NEOTEK.  The music they create for Good Courage is slightly varied from their NEOTEK sound.  A friend and I deduced that the Good Courage sound could be described as Depeche Mode on steroids.  The first track on Guilty on All Accounts, Did I Deserve This (Bloodmix) begins with wet sequences and pummeling beats, making it seem like it might be a very aggressive electro piece, but once Eric’s vocals begin, the track seems less threatening and more dance friendly.  I Saw Everything is a soothing instrumental with a clanky beat and tranquilizing sequences.  The music behind the title track is equally as comforting and the vocals do play well against the backdrop of sparse beats and rumbling sequences.  KMFDM remix Did I Deserve This and transform it into a rhythm driven piece with low ended sequences.  This particular mix has more meat in it than the original, but is less upbeat.  This same track is thrown to Leæther Strip who takes it and turns it into a more classical piece with the addition of more orchestral elements and zero beats.  Under the NEOTEK moniker, the instrumental Electric Spanking is reworked into a mad techno piece with a throbbing rhythm and quirky, up-tempo sequences.  Lastly, the frightening Psychopomps remix You Kill, giving it a dark disco feel with a dash of techno tossed in.  While most of Good Courage’s music is belligerent electro, designed for stomping, some of the pieces fall short of brilliant due to the unoriginal vocal delivery.  If you haven’t heard any of their previous work, Guilty on All Accounts was intended for you, but if you already possess their album, than there’s really nothing that this CD has to offer.
