FUNKER VOGT
- Thanks For Nothing
Songs: 10 Time: 52:50
The domestic version of Funker Vogt’s
debut CD has been released. Thanks For Nothing is an amazing
combination of harsh vocals, rough beats, and cybernized synth sequences.
Black Hole boosts snarled, distorted vocals, electrifying synth patterns
and a chugging beat. Also thrown into the mix are some nice horn and string
sounds that are not only catchy, but add a certain accessibility the piece.
A New Beginning is a twisted EBM piece with addicting sequences and a
brusque vocal delivery. A pummeling beat that gives the feeling of movement
(much like a train chugging along the track), along with pulsating sequences,
drive the title track, Thanks For Nothing. Animals uses a gothic
approach, found in the way the opening and breaking synth patterns resemble
medieval piano and pipe organ chords, to start off before kicking into high gear
with guttural vocals and throbbing sequences. Alone reverts to a more
cyber sound in the keyboards, while the less distorted vocals are moved to the
front of the mix. The vocals become more ‘phlegmy’ and are pushed towards the
back on Funker Vogt. This piece expands upon itself as it plays on with
the addition of various sound samples and a strict EBM beat that makes several
pace changes. Thanks For Nothing was one of the most notable releases of 1996.
I assure you that CD is destined to be a classic.
