FRONT 242 - Live Code
Songs: 13  Time:  60:39
Many years ago, in a land far far away there lived one of the greatest electro bands on the planet.  Formed in the early 80's and peaking in the late 80's, Front 242 paved the way for many bands to follow.  Originally released in 1993, Live Code was their first ever live concert CD released and, until recently, it was only available as an import.  Thanks to the good people at the US offices of Play it Again Sam, Live Code was repackaged and released in the US in 1998.  Many thought that this was a marketing ploy to attempt to cash in on Metropolis' releases of Re-Boot, another live Front 242 CD released around the same time.  In all honesty, I enjoy Live Code more so than e-Boot. On Re-Boot Front 242 reworks their tracks, updating them with 90's techno elements, where as on Live Code you can hear many of these same songs in their original format.  Some of the tracks included on Live Code are Motion, Skin, In Rhythmus Bleiben, and Soul Manager.  Front 242 classics such as Religion, Masterhit, Headhunter, and Welcome to Paradise are present as well.  The overall recording quality of Live Code is excellent, including crowd noise, which boosts the energy level of the entire CD.  Having seen 242 in concert several times, I can say that this CD is as close to the real experience as you can get without actually being there.  Live Code is quality 242 that showcases the power of this Belgium outfit, whose music will remain a staple food in any and every electro lover's diet.
