FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY - Comotose
Songs: 4  Time:  26:05
Comatose is the latest single from electro superstars Front Line Assembly.  In the past I waited anxiously for any new material from Bill and company, but since the album version of Comatose didn't really catch on with me, I didn't anticipate this single as much as usual.  Overall I did like the new direction that FLA took with Flavour of the Weak, but it grew old rather fast, hence I'm not overly keen on this single.  The Valium 15mg version is a decent reworking of the original, but it really doesn't take any chances or stray too far from the album version.  The next version, Ketamin 45mg, is still not remixed as much as it could have been.  This one seems to actually have less musical elements within it, making it rather boring.  I suppose what really draws me to most FLA tunes are the little quirks within each track that gives it individuality and I just don't find them in Comatose.  Eat Static do a final mix of the track in the form of the Prozac 75mg version.  Their mix does meander away from the original, but it has too much of a atmospheric techno flavor for my liking.  The b-side / unreleased track Oblivion begins very slow, but eventually builds up into a tech-electro frenzy, much like many of the album tracks.  I do like this track, but I think it could benefit from the addition of some vocals.  Overall, Comatose is passable, unless you're an avid fan and feel the need to own absolutely everything released by FLA.
