Fluorescent Pea Pod
(or FPP from here on out) is an Orlando, Florida based dance act
that deliver catchy tunes that remind me of some of the modern, female-fronted
synth-pop acts. On In Pod We Trust the listener is treated to the
soothing and addictive vocals of Tanya as well as well composed, highly
danceable music. Tanya's voice has a wonderful range and can go from low to
high in a matter of seconds. Albeit some of the lyrics are a tad on the cheesy
side (Let's Pretend comes to mind) I can easily overlook that in lieu of
the fact that the vocals are so well developed that I am drawn into the
outstanding qualities of them moreso than what she is saying. For a local (to
me anyway) unsigned band, FPP comes across as much more professional sounding
than most. While not solely relying on the the jumpiness and catchiness of the
music, FPP adds in some very unique elements to their pieces that most bands
tend to omit. The Moon shines as a perfect example of this. This track
has everything that I like about FPP rolled into a 4-minute song. Wonderful
vocals and compelling / catchy music is what this track is all about. For those
of you in the central Florida area, I suggest you try to catch FPP during one of
their live shows and I'm positive you'll agree that this is a very professional
act with irresistible music that begs for a major contract.
