FOETUS CORRUPTUS
- Rife
[reissue]
Songs: 11 Time: 67:27
Clint Ruin's Foetus project was a
staple in the bizarre-o underground music scene back in the 80's. Now, a decade
later, Invisible Records decided to re-release on of the more profound Foetus
releases, Rife. Can this CD stand up against the more modern
musical styles of the 90's? Most…definitely yes. Recorded live, Rife contains
some of the best Foetus material to ever be recorded. The barbaric sounding
Honey I'm Home comes complete with the cacophonous instrumentations,
volatile vocals, and thunderous drums. Grab Yr. Ankles is one of the
more 'song' structured pieces. With a chorus and bridges, Grab Yr. Ankles is
one of the less abstract pieces on Rife. A Prayer For My Death builds
and builds and builds and finally explodes with riotous guitar work, crashing
drums, and rowdy vocals. The Fudge Punch is a slower piece that dawdles
along with angry vocals, pace-setting beats, and the occasional guitar
intrusion. Rife is one of those definitive CDs that everyone should own, but
will they? Probably not.
