Float is a new synth-pop act who incorporate some house music stylings into their sound on their debut, Patience.  The Best of You begins this 10 track CD with smooth, melodic vocals, catchy sequences, and beats and rhythms that are analogous to synth-pop greats such as New Order.  The house tendencies flow through on Against the Tide; a track that is build up the ‘clap’ percussion, and 808 style beats.  The vocals are extremely well delivered and weave their way into the music wonderfully.  The vocalist displays his ability to hit the high notes with the same vivacity and energy as the lower ones on I Need To Know You.  The house percussion elements return on Maybe, a track that could very well prove to be Float’s crossover club hit.  Organ sounds mesh with a galloping on Higher.  When It’s Over sounds rather dated and has a mid-eighties, Kon Kan feel to it.  Patience finishes off with Falling, a slower piece on which the vocals and lyrics play a major role.  Float are really talented and their music has a lot of potential. It would not surprise me if they start getting Top 40 airplay in the next year.
