Having never heard Fields of the Nephilim,
I was always under the impression that they were a goth band, but after hearing
One More Nightmare / Darkcell AD I have to say that I was just a
tad off base. Sure, the vocals are heavily influenced by those of the gothic
genre, but the music is actually more speed metal than anything else. This is
really not my type of thing. At times the vocals on One More Nightmare
(Trees Come Down AD) turn into this demonic gargling that is simply
downright evil sounding. Darkcell AD, on the other hand, is musically
less abrasive, but the vocals still get under my skin just a bit. Granted they
aren't as creepy as Simbolo, but they are dangerously close. I suppose
if you like your music beyond dark sounding and you can stomach the devilish
vocals, than FOTN may be for you. As for myself, I don't think I'll be
