Fictional is the brainchild of Funker Vogt, Ravenous, and Fuspils 11 member Gerrit Thomas.  Utilizing the ever notable beat structures of the three aforementioned projects, Fictional manages to come across as a less hostile version of Funker Vogt and Fuspils 11, mixed with the synth-pop styling of Ravenous.  Fictitious was the surprise hit album of the year.  Played in clubs worldwide, songs such as Blue Lights, Hangman, On Helloween, and Dream of God have quickly become popular dance tunes.  Both Blue Lights and Dream of God feature Ravenous frontman Tim Fockenbrock on vocals.  Both of these tracks contain addictive lyrics, melancholy sequences, and a beat built for tearing up the dance floor.  There is an especially fantastic vocal effect used in Dream of God which makes Tim’s voice sound as if it is floating off into space.  The lyrics on Hangman tell a sad tale of a lost man who is accused of witchery, while the programming reverses the effect of the lyrics by transforming the track into a more upbeat tune.  Nightmare is a slower piece in which the vocals seem to float above the music, adding to the creepy atmosphere of the music itself.  The steady beat behind Starlight drives this piece while the light vocals and airy sequences create a more ambient textured background.  Although not too abrasive, Former Occupants is the roughest piece on Fictitious.  The vocals on this piece are warped and twisted, making them sound as if they are being sung by some futuristic Speak –n- Spell machine while the music is propelled by a dense beat and wavering pattern of sequences.  Fictitious sports an array of great tracks and could easily be enjoyed by both the synth-pop and electro crowd.  Although there a re a few remixes floating around on compilations, there was never a single planned for release from this CD, which is sad.  Considering the instant popularity of this CD and the infectious music held therein, it would be extremely interesting to hear some other bands rework some of these track and inject them with a bit of their own unique styles.
