Now here is an idea! Wumpscut techno!!!
Feindflug is a new duo from Germany that performs instrumental techno
along the lines of Neotek, but instead of the blistering keyboards and
dance beats, Feindflug use...blistering noise AND keyboards AND not just any
beats, early Wumpscut-type beats, in other words, LOUD ONES. Starting with a
short into, and a self titled track of guitar samples and noise, the CD kicks
out with Alptraum, sporting a mid paced beat, lovely piano chords, thick
electronics, and lots and lots of staticy, shreddy noise. Experimental tinged
techno...I love it. Leitbild sounds A LOT like Wumpscut but with more
emphasis on the war-like sequences, sounding like a battle theme. Lagerhaft
and Grossenwhan both feature loud and wet sequences coupled with hard
beats and guitar snippets as well as noise. The absence of vocals really help
distinguish Feindflug from the rest of the :W: imitators. The interesting
Foltersequenz is next, with an interesting juxtaposition. The sequences and
noise are all really fast, yet the beat remains very slow....interesting. The
knockout tracks are Stukas Im Visier and Kahle Bedrohung. Stukas
is just fantastic, with an alternating, menacing beat, loud metal guitar
samples, more battle cry strings, and a lot of chunky noise to blow yer head
off. Kahle sports the same basic elements, but the beat is 100 times louder and
the focus is on the dynamite strings and fluttering analogs that go with the
same guitar and noise combo. Supoib! A novel gimmick, and a good debut from
these guys, good for dancing and fighting, more dancing and more fighting. Plus
there are German samples up the wazoo...what more could you ask for?
