Eye Kandy is a new coldwave band from New Jersey.  Someone had told me previously that this was a weak synth-pop band.  They couldn't have been any more wrong.  Fusing strong electronic elements together with furious guitar chords and anger driven vocals, Eye Kandy have a potent, old-school sound.  Judging from the high energy level of all of the tracks on this MCD, I can only imagine that Eye Kandy put on an intense stage show.  Even on their cover of Berlin's Metro they warp this once mild piece into a frenzied electro / guitar assault.  It's great!  Of the other pieces, I enjoyed Nothing Can Change and Vibe Sequence the most, mainly due to the intricate electronic elements and how they compliment the choleric guitar elements as well as the enraged vocals.  Even the production quality of this release is top-notch, which is rare with bands that do not have label support.  Currently unsigned, Eye Kandy should soon get the attention of someone with label ties and it shouldn't be too long before they get the recognition and respect they so deserve.
