Evils Toy makes an exciting return
with this new MCD. Transparent Frequencies is a 4 track CD
featuring 2 mixes of the new track, Transparent Frequencies, one remix of
Lucifer's Garden, and another brand new track, Motionless. Also
included is a CD-ROM video for Co-Existence. The video is a combination
of raw concert footage mixed with random shots of cables lying on the ground.
While it was nice to finally get to see an Evils Toy video, the screen it is
displayed on is very tiny (measuring approximately 1 ½ by 1 inches.)
Transparent Frequencies follows the same pattern of programming and vocal
delivery style that Evils Toy explored on Illusions. It is also
similar in lyrical content, in that it deals with extraordinary ideas (angels
et.al.) Motionless, which can also be found on the InNOVAtion Eins
compilation, is an addictive track with squeaky synth lines, rolling beats, and
dark vocals. Lastly, the remix of Lucifer's Garden expands on the album version
with some added musical elements, but retains the electro / goth crossover vocal
style. This MCD came as a bit of a surprise, as I haven't even had time to let
Illusions grow old. Evils Toy seem to get better and better with each release
and Transparent Frequencies was the natural step to take before delivering their
next full length.
