d.k. - atest2

Songs: 4  Time:  17:07

Austria has spawned yet another great band, d.k.  From the homeland of Trylok, d.k. have developed a sound that is closely related to synth-pop with a minimal hard electro / EBM edge.  On this, their Celtic Circle debut, d.k. deliver 3 new pieces, one remix, and a CD-ROM video.  On atest2 we are treated to a rigid EBM beat, light vocals, and wavering sequences.  On the remix of atest2 we find many of the same musical elements, but they are arranged in a different manner, giving this remix a fresh and new feel.  Die sticks closer to the synth-pop formula, yet their is still an edge to the rhythm which hinders the track from falling completely into the synth-pop genre.  Lastly, Any contains the similar rhythmic edge and combines it with bubbly sequences and the airy vocals.  The CD-ROM video for atest2 isn’t really that spectacular, but I still find it nice to be able to see a Euro video that otherwise I would never have the chance to see.  Separated into 2 sections, the video follows the band members as they walk through what appears to be an industrial area.  The odd thing about this video is that on ½ of the screen, the video runs in reverse.  At the halfway point of the track, the reversed video changes direction and begins to run forward and the other video switches into reverse.  All in all, the music on atest2 is catchy and unique and I look forward to the eventual release of a full length.
