The man behind the majority of the music in HOCICO, Rasco Agroyam, displays some solo skills here. Fans of Wumpscut and Ant Zen label techno acts take notice, as this is right up your alley. As expected, this does retain the same Hocico type sound...only through a meat grinder. Gone are the string works and dark orchestral movements of the parent band, and in their place?....Noise. Lot's of noise. LOUD noise, but good noise. And what's this? Rasco sings!...well, screeches rather. Kinda' like Erk, but more intelligible, Rasco prefers the distorted whisper. The best track on this is Disolucion. Sounding very much like a new Hocico track, this song still has its own unique "Dulce" qualities. After a snippet of noise, dark and pulsing synths give way to a pounding hardcore techno-type beat, various other noises and fast beats acting as fillers, and some raw, Spanish vox. Just like the parent band, Dulce Lliquido makes me wanna' go out and bust some heads open! Very evil and cool. Continuing in the Hocico-like trend, Macabre Secret" has a bit more of an orchestral feel, with a sporadic rolling beat that weaves in and out of some thick sequences and fluttering strings and noises. One of the few tracks with vocals, Rasco sort of sings mono-tonely in the background. This is where the comparisons to Hocico stop, however. Some of these tracks are all noise, such as Illusion Hecha Mentira which has a small rhythm pushed way behind a grinding noise/drum combination, and Esquizofrenia, which, just like schizophrenia, has 2 personalities....the light string pattern in the foreground and the blistering hardcore/white noise/ear bleedin' beat in the back. Psicosis is another cool track because it basically sounds like another Hocico track, only instead of thick analog electronics pulsing rhythmically with the hard beat, we get blaring noise. Same with Castillos.." fast beats and noise play to the same structure, making it dancable and...well hurtful I guess! That's one thing that I feel really helps this release, unlike some bands who use noise and let it fly without and control or rhythm, Rasco uses blaring grindcore elements with a structure, making every track enjoyable....if not damaging to brain cells!
