DECODED FEEDBACK - EVOlution

Songs: 13  Time:  68:28

EVOlution is Decoded Feedback's fourth domestic release to date.  This Canadian based project creates dense, electro club music with strong rhythms, hard beats, intense sequences and slightly distorted vocals.  Yone and Marco have stumbled upon a musical style that blends early EBM together with modern day electro, producing a sound that makes for both dancing and / or simply sitting around and listening to.  Of the 13 tracks found on EVOlution, 6 of them are new, 6 of them are remixes from Bio-Vital, and one of them is a cover version done by Frozen Autumn.  Standout tracks are EVOlution, Infect Me, and Bodies of Seals.  The later track begins with an ominous synth pattern that is reminiscent of darkwave music.  As the track progresses, Decoded Feedback introduces a subtle beat that gradually builds up into a near hip-hop style that Marco's vocals rise above.  What I truly enjoy about this piece is the mixture of darkwave and electro styled sequences.  Infect Me is a no-holds-barred, electro-stomping dance piece partially comprised of Marcos twisted vocals, healthy beats, and cybernetic sequence programming.  Decoded Feedback's own remix of Breathe (the Infected mix) takes the original, breaks it down, and reassembles / restructures it into a slower moving track.  The Fictional mix of Bio-Vital was not as strong as I had initially hoped it would be. As much as I love this new Gerrit Thomas project, I have yet to hear a remix that really carries off the addictive sound of Fictional.  In Strict Confidence does manage to bring some of their own subtly addictive sounds into their mix of Breathe, reworking the track with some fresh sounds.  The chaos found within the remix of Relic easily reflects the mad electro of it's remixing talent, Aghast View.  This is one of the stronger and most diverse remixes on this CD.  Bio-Vital (Funker Vogt remix) is pretty standard when it comes to Funker Vogt. This track emulates the tired 'thump-thump-thump' beat style that Funker Vogt never strays away from.  Lastly, Frozen Autumn's cover of Decoded Feedback's Bio-Vital is much more electro sounding than I had imagined it would be.  I had always thought that Frozen Autumn was a gothic band, and judging by the vocals they may very well be, but on this cover version they do incorporate a lot of electronic sounds, albeit more melodic in nature.  You truly do get a lot of diverse music styles on this one CD.  Fans of Decoded Feedback or any of the remixing talent found on this CD should be easily satisfied with EVOlution.
