Dark Illumination
made their Zoth Ommog debut a few months back on the Body Rapture 7
double CD set with the song Hell Flight. Now this track, along with 10
others, can be found on their full length debut, Realize the Error.
Realize the Error contains dark textural IDM, loaded with bleak samples. On
the title track Dark Illumination create an ghostly atmosphere with their
vibrating sequences, whispered vocals, and smooth beats. Some people have
associated their music with the earlier works of Haujobb and that
comparison is present in No Fiction with its rumbling, low-ended beats,
cold vocals, and warped sequences. A quieter EBM styled piece, Electronic To
Mechanic Work contains squeaky sequences, altered rhythms, and soft-spoken
vocals. Sensual High is comprised of a manipulated sequence, steady
beat, chirping rhythms, and breathy vocals. Hell Flight is based on quick,
changing techno beats, random peculiar sounds, and catchy sequences. On
Mental Breakdown, Dark Illumination opt for a less prominent beat in favor
of sweeping sequences and somber vocals. Call My Name is a faster paced
piece full of wet ‘cyber’ sounding sequences, hard beats, and vocals that are
quietly murmured. Out toReality is a ten minute, Dive-like, experimental
track that morphs into a more accessible, slow electro piece. In a time when it
is truly hard to fins originality in electronic music, Dark Illumination seem to
be on the right path to developing their own sound and their next release should
show the world whether or not they can accomplish just that.
