D-PRESSIV
- Weg Ohne Wiederkehr
Songs: 6 Time: 20:39
To call D-Pressiv a synth-pop band
would be wrong. To call them a hard electro project would be far off the
target. The music of D-Pressiv falls right in between these two categories,
melding soothing sequences, captivating vocals, club friendly beats, and dark
melodies. The title track mixes delightful female vocals with a natural male
voice. The music consists of piano melodies, a vibrating rhythm line, and
symphonic sequences, all coming together to create an impression of light music
with a hard beat. Schuldgefühle retains the harder beat while adding
harmonizing male and female vocals, a galloping rhythm, and a hollow pipe
sounding sequence. A harsher, more aggressive vocal style is introduced on
Du Weinst! Intruding, deep, throaty male vocals come out of nowhere during
the chorus, adding a sense of darkness and hostility to the piece. The
sequences behind In Einer Leeren Welt match the female vocal styling
perfectly, playing in unison with Katharina’s delivery. Nacht Der Nächte
is the most mellow piece on this MCD, fitting into the synth-pop category
perfectly. Since this release is on the Maschinenwelt label, clever packaging is
expected. Enclosed inside of the clear hinge of the CD case are a twig and a
pebble. What the significance these are, is beyond me, but it’s novel just the
same. If this MCD was meant to be a taste of what D-Pressiv has in store for
the future, you can be sure I’ll be one of the first in line to pick up their
next album.
