It has finally arrived and it was well worth
the wait. Construggle Test’s debut release, Welfare Taste,
is a limited edition MCD full of rough beats, guttural vocals, hawkish dance
sequences, and unique samples. Hostage begins this MCD with moody
sequences that turn harsh as the militant, hip-hop influenced beats and dramatic
rhythms kick in. The second track, Injustice (Tarzan Style), features a
breakbeat percussion that melts into the energetic sequences. The vocals are
delivered in a similar style as the Swamp Terrorists Ane H.; gritty and
riotous. Nightwatch features a rumbling rhythm, dark samples, and a
domineering beat. This piece is more along the lines of straight forward EBM,
whereas the others seem to borrow ideas from techno and electro. The final
track, Cannibal, begins with a snippet from Clive Barker’s
Nightbreed after which it tosses in thudding rhythm and coarse vocals.
This MCD is most definitely a ‘Taste’ of what is to come from Construggle
Test’s full length.
