Quite a few people gave up on Consolidated
after their last release, and rightfully so. Adam and Mark return, on yet
another label with yet another approach to music. Leaving their electronic
roots even further behind them, Consolidated turn their musical interests more
towards a mixture of rock and soul, akin to the likes of Living Color or
even Lenny Kravitz. Mark still keeps a firm hold on the beats, but they
are much less aggressive than in the past. The lyrics are still very political
in nature, using current events and modern societal movements as their basis.
Also, Consolidated still toss in the occasional snippet of dialogue from their
live shows, something in which that became widely known for. I can’t say that I
don’t like their new sound, because to me it isn’t the music that matters, but
rather their viewpoints, ideas, and perception of our world. If you’re in the
mood for music and lyrics that will make you think, Dropped might
be a good place to start.
