Considering the plethora of talent found
within C-Tec I had really hoped for more from Cut, their
second release. After all, I personally thought that their debut CD,
Darker, was an amazing piece of work, full of intelligent programming
and mind boggling electronics, but it is now apparent that that aspect of their
sound left, along with the members of Haujobb. Cut is a rather bland
electro album that meanders through the coldwave territory with thick guitars,
raspy vocals, standard electro beats, and rehashed rhythms. Still present are
the core members, Marc Heal (Cubanate), Jed Denton (Crisis NTI),
Jean-Luc Demeyer along with Julian Beeston (Shining/Nitzer Ebb),
Doug Martin, and David Bianchi, but without that additional input from the
members of Haujobb, as well as Rhys Fulber, Cut is more or less a flop. If all
of the artists involved stuck with their main projects, I think they could
showcase their talents much more abundantly.
