BRAVE NEW WORLD
- Regret
Songs: 6 Time: 28:33
Hailing from the Motor City, Brave New
World are making their way through the electro scene with tracks such as
Regret. Combining elements from techno to synth-pop to electro and beyond,
Brave New World has caught the ear of Industrial Bible. On this 6 track CD
single, we are treated to 4 versions of the title track and two previously
unreleased tracks. The Universal Mix of Regret (reworked by Kieth Milo
of Cause and Effect) is quite possibly one of the permier synth-pop
tracks to ever be put on disc. The vocals are crisp, the programming is catchy,
yet not tediously over played, and the techno orientated beats are designed for
dancing. Remixed by Laura Effect, Regret (German Liebe Mix)
sounds as if it has been recorded in a room filled with cotton. Everything
about this version is soft. The vocals sound semi-muffled, the sequences aren’t
quite as crisp, and the beats sound smothered. It almost has a live feel to it.
Seven Red Seven take ahold of Regret and mix in some more electro / EBM
sounds. While the vocals still reside in the synth-pop territory, the music
behind this mix is pure cyber-electro. One of the unreleased track, Moment
of Silence, is a lighter, more melodic piece with a steady beat, layered
vocals, and ebbing sequences. Every band of this type that I have been drawn to
has been from Europe, so it’s great to see that someone from the states is
talented enough to give them some competition.
