B! MACHINE
- Temple
Songs: 7 Time: 38:04
One of the final releases for A Different
Drum in 1999 is the Temple MCD by B! Machine. Containing 4
versions of the title track along with 3 other pieces, Temple gives us remixes
by Neuroactive and Maximus. Neuroactive’s Polar remix is
easy to recognize as it contains some nice programming elements that have that
Neuroactive style written all over them. Where as the original version of
Temple is light on music, the Polar remix has quite a bit of added sounds
and sequences that breathe life into this otherwise dull track. Jaren Tolman
reworks Temple into an even more upbeat track on his Three Degrees of Glory
remix. He switches the beat for a New Order-ish retro one and also adds
in some more ethereal synth sounds. The weakest of the remixes comes from
Maximus, who transform Temple into a slow piece with a smattering of bubbly
sequences and an airy beat. Close is the best of the trio of bonus /
alternate tracks as it has the most going for it musically. Whereas A Single
Thought and the alternate version of Second Time are vocals based
pieces, the remix of Close has a wonderful variety of light synth-pop elements
including a solid dance beat, quirky sequences, and airy vocals. Temple is a
decent MCD, but B! Machine is not near as impressive as some of the other ADD
bands that are out there.
