BLIND PASSENGERS
- The Golden Years
Songs: 4 Time: 18:06
As a whole, I’m not overly impressed with the
newest offering from Blind Passengers. Their latest album, The
Trash Inside My Brain, was one of my top picks for 1997, so I was
anxious to hear this new single, Golden Years. This 4 track CD-5
contains the album version of Golden Years, two mixes of Infect My
Brain and one mix of Kick My Soul. Golden Years is one of the best
tracks off of the album, but I was disappointed that their were no remixes of it
on this single. The Telephone Mix of Infect My Brain takes the original,
strips it of a lot of it’s powerful music, and transforms it into a more mellow,
near ambient piece. The Whitehorn Shuffle Mix of the same song does
manage to retain some of the energy of the original, but it still isn’t nearly
as effectual of a piece. Lastly, the Ger Edit of Kick My Soul is the
only mix on this single that is worthwhile. Atmospheric sequences ebb and flow
in the background, behind a growling chorus and break beat styled beats.
Normally Blind Passengers deliver exclusive tracks on their singles, but not
this time around. Hopefully this is just a fluke and their next endeavor will
be more stalwart.
