Providing a slight teaser for their next full
length, Blind Passengers have released a new CD single entitled Jesus
Christ. On this single we find Blind Passengers experimenting with several
new styles of music. The title track contains their staple, semi-synth poppy
vocals atop a analogue based sequences, and a beat that varies from slow and
flat to more upbeat and partially techno influenced. J.C. Psalm is a
very trancy version of the title track, with the same vocal styling. What makes
this version different is the slowed down, near absent beat and sweeping
sequences. On Hard Psalm, Blind Passengers utilize a throbbing,
electrified rhythm line against a beat that ranges from mid-paced to break-beat.
It was on this track that I found myself hitting the repeat button on my CD
player. The final track, I Can’t Enjoy This, is a industrial, metal,
hip-hop tune with more analogue sounds and natural vocals. With all these
different styles of music on one single, I can hardly wait for the full length.
