BATTERY - Momentum

Momentum is the precursor to the newest Battery full-length, Aftermath.  Containing 5 tracks, 2 of which are presented in two forms, Momentum is more or less a MCD rather than a single.  Betrayal (Edit) begins this CD with clanging sequences, a tumultuous beat, and Maria's wondrous vocals.  On a club music dance scale of 1 to 10, this piece easily tops out at a 10.  Siebold of Hate Dept. fame remixes This Much, adding in a plethora of roughed up guitar riffs that both collide with and compliment Maria's vocals.  Headcheck slows things down tremendously with its subdued keys and beats until the chorus kicks in.  During the chorus both the music and Maria's vocals are bumped up several notches and become much more violent and aggressive sounding.  Originally recorded for the motion picture Tainted, Theme (Dub) is a slightly atmospheric piece that gradually builds in momentum (no pun intended) as the vocals and beats are implemented.  Cameron Lewis (AKA Ipecac Loop) reworks this piece on his Eulogy Edit, recreating its overall sound, creating a drifting, near instrumental and very experimental piece.  Momentum is a great MCD for two reasons; 1) it contains more than a bunch of remixes of one song and 2) because it acts as a wonderful segue for the new CD.
