AXONAL WARFARE - Dead Time
Songs: 4  Time: 21:24
Axonal Warfare is another great band that has been picked up by Celtic Circle / Khazad-Dûm.   One their debut MCD, Dead Times, this French trio display their ability to compete with many of the big name, cyber-electro terrorists musicians of today.   Done in the typical Khazad-Dûm fashion, Dead Times is a limited to 1000 copies release.   The first track, Dead Times (Edit Mix), starts off sounding much like a Front Line Assembly track, but kicks into it’s on style around the one minute mark.   The music is complex cyber-electro, chock full of samples, while the vocals are less harsh and delivered without distortion of any type.   At times, the percussion verges on techno/break-beat without ever totally crossing over into that genre.   The electronic sounds are harsh, yet programmed in such a way that they come off sounding less abrasive than you might think.   Another remix of Dead Times, Neuromancer Mix, uses the same groundwork of the original, but adds in some higher end synth sounds and choppy vocals.   H.R.F. (Human Release Factor) is a track that takes a brand new direction.   The vocals, which are the driving force, are juxtaposed against the music to give it a Putrefy Factor 7 feel.   The electronics are minimal, yet important to the overall texture of the song.   The final track is an instrumental version of Resist.   While this track is without vocals, there are plenty of samples carefully placed over the cyber / electro sequences.   Add in some underlying samples of explosions and you have a very interesting instrumental.   With their debut being this strong, I can only imagine what their first full length, entitled Statis Interrupted,  will sound like.
