AUDIO PARADOX - The Iniquity of Time
Songs: 10  Time:  45:28

The Iniquity of Time by the Texan trio known as Audio Paradox is a solid electro CD that displays professionalism in both the recording and composition of the track within. Beginning with Time to Burn, Audio Paradox go for the lighter side of electro that has worked so well for bands such as VNV Nation and Covenant. Deep, natural vocals are complimented by slow electronic beats and rhythms, as well as an array of quirky electronics that remain in the background, as not to steal anything away from the powerful vocals. The best part of this particular tune is found within the bridges, in which Audio Paradox breaks down with astute beats and sci-fi styled electronics. With Collision, Audio Paradox introduces a harder, edgier sound that joins together heavy guitars and intelligent electronics. Although the vocals on this piece aren't as smooth, the music behind them is a great mixture of intelligence and power. With its profuse guitar elements, distant electronics, and dark natured vocals, parasitic comes off as more of a metallic gothic piece. With Transgression, Audio Paradox returns once again to the intelligent side of electro. On this piece the sequences are bubbly and aquatic, the beats are non-predictable, and guitars are left to the background, adding a certain needed, rhythmic element. Again, as in Time to Burn, Pyle's vocals are very powerful and delivered confidently. Both Grace One and Ageless are mainly guitar driven with the former being much harder in style. Underlines, Cached Influx, and Threshold are all electronically drive pieces that remain mostly in the realm of IDM. In all honesty it too me awhile to get around to reviewing The Iniquity of Time simply because I didn't think I could easily categorize their sound and style. After listening to the CD over and over again, I finally came to the conclusion that they didn't easily fit into any specific musical group, which is one of the reasons I think this CD is so amazing. Audio Paradox manage to capture the essence of several styles of music and incorporate them smoothly into The Iniquity of Time, which is something that so many bands attempt to do, but can never quite reach their goal. Hats off to Audio Paradox for a job extremely well done.
